The Life Skills Training program is a separate program administered at SUNSHINE. The main idea behind it is to provide twelve months of intensive teaching and practical instruction for girls/young women ages 18, through 23, who are either graduating from SUNSHINE, or leaving various state-run orphanages and other institutions.
Young women participating in the Life Skills Training program learn crucial life skills that enable them to get a good start in their independent lives. This period also enables them to further restore their physical and emotional health, both of which are crucial when re-entering the real world.
After completion of the Life Skills Training program, SUNSHINE assists its graduates with finding employment or additional training, through which they can continue their personal and professional development. Participants experiencing problems with legal issues (documents, passports, tax registrations, or various school, medical, and family matters), receive advice and individual assistance in resolving these matters. Currently, the Life Skills Training program at SUNSHINE accommodates four girls. However, this program is very successful and has a high replication factor; it can be easily reproduced by other non-government and government organizations throughout Ukraine.
