At SUNSHINE, we believe that the best environment for children is the family. Even when there is a need for professional therapy, there must be the possibility of placing children in families at the conclusion of their therapy. That is why we constantly search for families who are willing and able to receive and care for children after their therapy at SUNSHINE is completed.
In addition to searching for foster families outside of SUNSHINE, we have created our own foster home in which children who have completed our therapy program reside with foster parents. In April of 2004, we acquired certain real property near SUNSHINE and converted it into a foster family house. The house is large enough to accommodate a family with up to 8 children. The renovation and furnishing of our foster house was completed in the fall of 2006. It currently houses one foster family with 9 foster children. This arrangement gives us the opportunity to assist the foster parents, help with supervision of the children, and closely monitor their development.
