Sunshine Kids visited the last Ukrainian confluence!

Tamara, Sergey, Vitali, Denis, Ruslan and Serioga accompanied by Marek Wnuk visited the confluence 46°N 29°E on February 16th, at 11.45 am. The goal of the confluence project is to visit each of the latitude and longitude integer degree intersections in the world, and to document it with pictures.

We started our trip from Kiev by bus on February 15th and we reached Belgorod Dnistrovski on the same day. We visited the ruins of the old fortifications from the XII century and spend the night there. On the next day we drove to the village of Vilne. The last 30 km were practically off roads and we had a lot of trouble to drive through the sumps. Short before our goal we had to dig our bus out of the sumps. Fortunately the villagers came to help. Thank you! The people who live in Vilne (Engl: Free Village) are native Bulgarians - they escaped from their country 180 years ago, prosecuted by Ottoman Turkish. They still speak Bulgarian there and celebrate their old traditions. Some of them still use donkeys to pull their old wooden vehicles.

The last four kilometres we went by foot, walking through vineyards and grazing land, accompanied by the sound of bells of the sheep and goats who seems to be astonished to see us there, exactly as their shepherds were.

The confluence point is in the middle of an old vineyard, on the small hill. The Kids were a little bit disappointed, that there was nothing spectacular to see there, but the joy of completing the task were great! Tired, but happy, on the same day we drove back to Trebuhiv.
