29/06/2005 KIS Kiev International School continues its partnership with Sunshine
In June, Center volunteer, William H. Pruett met with Helen Wasusk and Terri O'Connell to review children's activities completed during the 2004-2005 school year and to plan activities for the upcoming 2005-2006 school year. During 2004-05 KIS kids invited the Sunshine kids for a Saturday outing at KIS. Both groups of children participated in basketball and swimming followed by a great pizza lunch. Afterward the Sunshine Kids invited their new KIS friends to the center for a visit including a wonderful lunch. In addition, KIS provided humanitarian aid in the form of clothing, a sewing machine, some very soft and cute stuffed animals and $100 dollars raised by KIS kids through bake sales.
We are sad to say that Mrs. Helen Wasusk is leaving after the school year for her new teaching assignment in China. We wish her all the best and our very special thanks for her wonderful heart and super organizational skills this year.
Mrs. Terrie O'Connell will be our liaison at KIS during the upcoming school year and we are very excited to be working with her. We are discussing the possibility of Sunshine children participating in a computer learning lab during the 2005-06 school year. While, things are only in the planning stages, we are optimistic that this new, exciting and educational program will receive approval very soon.
